What to do After Receiving Engagement Rings?

There are many things to do right after you become engaged. Not only will you need to tell your closest friends and family as soon as it happens, you will also need to get the engagement ring insured in case something dreadful happens. Of course, you will be beyond excited when this moment is happening, but make sure you take some time to breathe and remember everything that is going on.

First things first: Call or visit your VIPs. If your best friend lives in another state and you cannot simply swing by to tell her the great news, make sure you call her before posting something on social media. Only people who are your acquaintances should find out via Facebook or Instagram. Your immediate family and best friends certainly deserve a phone call or a visit.

Secondly, get your ring appraised. Getting an appraisal involves visiting your local jewelry store and having them look very closely at your ring. They will determine the carat and value of your engagement ring and give you a dollar amount as to what it is worth. This is definitely going to be needed for your insurance company in case anything happens to the ring and you need to replace it. It isn't the most enjoyable process, but it is all part of being a grown up and taking care of business!

Next, get a manicure! Totally splurge and let a professional make your hands (and toes) look their best! Everyone is going to want to see your engagement ring, so you need to make sure your cuticles are cut and you have no hang nails. Heaven forbid your jagged cuticles upstage your gorgeous diamond engagement ring!

Take some time to enjoy being engaged. Many brides to be want to jump right into wedding planning and that is ok, but when asked later, they claim they wished they could've enjoyed the engagement period just a little while longer. I know I needed a good month just to stare at my custom engagement ring! There will be plenty of time to figure out who will be in your wedding and who you are going to invite down the road. Don't make any promises to anyone just yet! I know it will be difficult not to invite everyone you see, but do your best not to until you have chosen a venue and found out how many guests it can accommodate.
